Anna Maria Twarogowska – Polish speech and language therapist in the Netherlands

I am a speech and language therapist and a Polish philologist, and I run a private speech and language therapy practice in Zoeterwoude-Rijndijk in the Netherlands. I help children, teenagers and adults, offering speech and language assessment and speech and language therapy in Polish.

I completed a five-year master's degree at the Faculty of Polish Studies (Wydział Polonistyki) of the University of Warsaw, specialising in speech and language therapy. Combining a background in Polish philology with speech and language therapy allows me to look at the development of speech, language, communication and pronunciation in a holistic way.

Professional experience

I gained my professional experience through placements and work in psychological and pedagogical counselling centres, nurseries and schools in Warsaw. I have worked with both children and adults.

I gained experience of working with adult patients at the Neurological Therapy and Rehabilitation Unit of Szpital Grochowski and at the Samodzielny Publiczny Centralny Szpital Kliniczny in Warsaw (a public central clinical hospital), where I also worked with people with communication difficulties resulting from neurological conditions.

After moving to the Netherlands, I continued to work with Polish-speaking children and families. I collaborated with the Poolse Centrum in The Hague, where I ran regular group sessions for children, and with Fundacja Polskie Centrum Edukacji i Kultury Lokomotywa (a foundation for Polish education and culture) in Amsterdam.

A Polish speech and language therapist for children and adults in the Netherlands

In my practice I support people for whom it is important to have access to speech and language assessment and therapy in Polish. I am particularly drawn to working with children growing up in a bilingual or multilingual environment, who use both Polish and Dutch in their everyday lives.

I offer consultations, speech and language assessment and speech and language therapy at my practice in Zoeterwoude-Rijndijk. Selected consultations and sessions can also take place online.

Professional development

Speech and language therapy is a field that is constantly evolving, so I regularly broaden my knowledge and further my qualifications. I attend specialist training courses on topics including speech and language assessment and therapy, myofunctional therapy, neurological speech and language therapy, and supporting children's speech, language and communication development.

It is important to me that every assessment and course of therapy is tailored to the individual needs of the patient, their age, abilities and language environment.
